Zero Defect Zero Effect (ZED) Certification Scheme
The ZED Certification Scheme encourages MSMEs to improve product quality, productivity and environmental performance while reducing defects, waste and environmental impact.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a registered MSME (Udyam Registration mandatory)
- Manufacturing units
- Service units
Benefits
- 50% to 80% subsidy on certification cost
- Up to 80% subsidy for micro enterprises
- 100% free certification for women-owned MSMEs
- Additional 10% subsidy for: SC/ST-owned enterprises, Units in NER, Himalayan, LWE, Island regions, and aspirational districts
- Certification Levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold
- Improves: Product quality, Environmental compliance
- Enhances: Export potential, Business credibility
How to Apply
- Apply through the ZED Certification Portal
- Register on the portal
- Apply for desired certification level
- Upload required information and documents
- Undergo: Assessment, Verification
- Receive certification upon approval
Documents Required
- Udyam Registration Certificate, PAN Card, GST Registration Certificate, Business details
- Photographs of: Manufacturing area and machinery, Product labelling and packaging, Fire safety systems, Employee safety practices (PPE usage), Raw material and finished goods storage
- Financial reports (last 2–3 years, if applicable)
- Quality-related documents
- Self-declaration/undertaking for: Statutory compliance, Accuracy of submitted information
